The Malibu shoot
SOOCy shot (easy when you've got Malibu sunshine)
What a gorgeous hot and sunny day it is today in SoCal! Whilst I laid the bed for wildflowers this morning, breaking up the parched earth with the boys rascalling around me and Reuben delighting in the fine mist from the hose over his hot body, my late afternoon took me along the Pacific Coast Highway, sun blazing down, sunroof doing its thing, to photograph a Russian family whom I've met at Reuben's school. A family member of theirs just happens to have a beach apartment in Malibu, way off the highway, an oasis of calm against the stunning blue ocean, rock pools heavily fortified with mussels, giant starfish and the crashing waves.
I've done myself no favours once again by taking 2000 pics and so I'll just upload this one quickly as it came to me whilst I work my way through processing the rest. I suddenly remembered to Blip though I did take a couple of pics of Callum running round the garden in his diaper this morning before the sun was high.
Everyone's been so very kind of late re my pics of the boys and this one here, although not of the hands of my fine dear sons, is a typical "Catherine Lacey" shot! I've always loved shooting hands and feet, especially the salty, sunshine armed variety that welcomed me today. For me it has a religious sentiment to it too, no doubt felt as we enter Holy Week and for this family, Passover. The love between the elder twins and their younger brother who, like Reuben, has special needs, shone through today and warmed my heart and this picture is the essence of that love. Not surprising really: little Avi is an absolute joy to be around. How happy to see the little love walk along the beach for the first time when I know, like Reuben, those first steps were a huge milestone to accomplish.
A few others from the sun drenched day. And feedback always needed for these early shoots.
