I wasn't born in the 80's but
Calvin Harris, Liquid Rooms. Blagged with a mate reviewing for the Sun straight after an Andrew O'Hagan reading at the bookfest. This Harris boy's a bit talented. At first I was cringeing when he and his big pal stood and pushed buttons on their laptops on stage and danced really badly behind them. Then the gig changed gear and the boy came on with his band, sang, played guitar and jumped about like a loon - funky as fark.
After that I ended up on the roof of the Teviot drinkin hard and talkin' modern Shakespeare (amongst a lot of other things) with this dude til 4.30am. What a talented guy for one so young. Been on the Shakes vibe since his brother introduced him to the verse at the age of 12! His show looks the business. Even if the thought of Shakespeare doesn't float yer boat there's female nudity and free chocolate. Good marketing skills too obviously!
