French Saturday Market

This market is held twice a week in St. Dizier, a town some 210 kilometers east of Paris where we were visiting old friends. Unlike many such markets in France it includes only food, and was fascinating to visit. With a population of about 30,000 St. Dizier can afford a covered marketplace--larger and less picturesque than the one it replaced.
