Louise - Changing Natures

Friday? Blabberday!

Fanastic day today with two amazing events with young people. The first was a group of young volunteers with visual impairments who work with RNIB Scotland and their youth forum - the brilliantly named Haggeye. The volunteers have been auditing our services (we're a charity that supports young people) to see how relevant and accessible they are for ALL young people.

Let me tell you - it was a masterclass in undertaking audit and constructive feedback. Brilliant, just brilliant. Loads of great ideas, inventiveness and understanding about how tough some of these issues are to address, but with solutions about how to fix.

Then it was on to a celebration event tonight for a project we are running across the country, supporting young people from different faith and minority groups, including asylum seekers, refugees and young gypsy travellers to work together to tackle local community issues. Over 80 young volunteers and their support workers came along to be recognised and receive certificates etc - it was such a joyous atmosphere, with so many different countries and faiths represented in one room, laughing and justifiably proud of what they have all achieved. My face hurts from smiling so much.

The pic is of one of our Blabber Boxes, which we use to collect ideas, views and feedback from young people. I did have a day of blabber and chatter - but every single word of it was good!

More tomorrow too - we're running a big conference of around 200 young people, talking about equalities and how to create a fairer Scotland. Can't wait to hear what they have to say!
