Bhutanese dance party
Tonight the fire pit at the hotel is the site of a government dinner. But true to form, the guests have taken over from the entertainers. It started with paid dancers and now as the evening wears on, the guests (government officials from the districts) are dancing themselves. There's no music provided, just traditional songs sung by the dancers as they circle around the fire with a complex series of shuffling steps. The songs are getting rowdier and rowdier as more and more ara (the traditional brewed liquor) is consumed.
Best viewed large and if you do, you can see that the some of the guys in the top part of the photo are wearing traditional felt boots because this is a special occasion.
