Millmount

Millmount has had a defensive structure in place since the 12th century when it was a Norman motte. It has come through a number of various incarnations since then, but the last gun fired in anger was during the Irish Civil War in 1922.
Recently restored, it is now open to the public, and I hope to the museum therein, shortly.
While I was taking this picture of the eastern side, an elderly lady, probably in her 80s told me that she grew up within the compound and and she married a man from across the street (behind me), where she had lived ever since.
More related blips to follow, I imagine.
