Pink and Blue

For those interested in the outcome of my book group last night, the other members agreed with me that AS Byatt's 'The Children's Book' was overly long, overly encyclopaedic with information about nearly everything there is to know and with the story line only really taking off half way through the book. We blame the editor.
In the words of a third party critic -' This Book has enormous brain but precious little heart and soul'.

Jamie Oliver's beetroot cake served with creme fraiche was well worth the hardship of reading the book though. Delicious, Ann!

This morning I seem to have been chasing my tail with a bit of cleaning, a bit of cooking and a bit of desktop publishing.

Last night as I was trying to print something in a hurry as per usual, my printer decided to play up and told me face to face that things could be rectified if I cleaned its ink nozzles. Having done this about 10 times with no obvious improvement, I read the manual which said if this happened I should switch off and try again later.
When I tried again this morning, all was well, which leaves me wondering if machines are indeed animate as so many of their problems are solved by allowing them to sleep and waken alert and responsive. Just like us.
