Oriental spires
More relaxed day today.
Started with a manicure at Lucky's, never had one of those before which became apparent as she worked away at my nails, she was horrified when I con fessed to this as the Cambodian women seem to make a lot of effort with their appearance and think we are a scruffy lot:at least we both have pink nails now!
Exhausted by this we had to head back to the pool for a swim and a read of the Phnom Penh Times - in English I'm afraid.
Jess was at work this afternoon so I took myself off to the Royal Palace which was beautiful - this shows the spires of the central pagoda.I thought I ought to show a little of the architecture which is really lovely and in this instance well cared for.
I saw several youngsters painting the walls with large brushes, it reminded me of 'Painting the roses red' from 'Alice in Wonderland' but the picture wasn't good enough. I'm finding it very difficult to take photo's here. The light is very bright and seems to wash everything out. There are some fantastic people to take but I think you have to be very careful about invading people's privacy and respecting their culture so I end up not taking them. That's my excuse anyway!
Just got back from another fantastic Khmer meal - we did have to climb up 3 stories on what seemed like a fire escape but it was worth it. I have had to give up lunch to stop excessive weight gain!!!!!
It's 10.30 and still steamy so off to cool down now:)
