The Trans Fainnaich Expedition

Fresh as a daisy after yesterdays exertions and a skinful of IPA myself and Brian (one of The Auld Team) decided that we needed to to do A'Coileachan and Meall Gorm in the Fainnaichs. We reckoned that due to the excess melt then the streams on the north side were a no-goer, so we opted for the long walk in from the south, Long is in fact the word, about seven bloody miles of tarmac, gated off at the bottom and we didn't have a key for the gate, we walked. We covered the miles well enough and were on the summit of A'Coileachan in about 4 hours. On the summit we met two blokes that had come from the north and there apparently was some bridges (again not on the bloody map). They offered to give us a lift back the the car on the south side (about 15 miles). Absolute top effort by the boys as it would save us that damned walk out. So we did Meall Gorm and wandered out across some hellish terrain, got soaked several times but were dry by the roadside and the boys gave us a lift. Top blokes, there is something a bit special about the people you meet on the hills.

What we have here is Sgurr Mhor, as you will probably agree it has very agreeable lines for a hill, damned beautiful in fact.

All in all we covered 26 km of road and open terrain, got rained on, snowed on and blown about a bit. A great day all in all.

Not sure what age Brian is, but I reckon he's about 70.
