Gilding the Faux Steak
One of my favorite places to visit is Manhattan in New York. I usually try to pick up a watch or two from wandering street vendors (usually young African men---not sure why), and I usually pay somewhere between $5 and $10 for each watch. I thought my collection might look nice in a proper watch case, which arrived today. They're all fake except two: from left to right, top to bottom, number 4 is a Storm that I bought in London for $350, and number 6 is a 1999 pager watch with an LCD display that shows the phone number of the person paging. I bought it as a novelty and only used it a year or so before realizing a cell phone had way more utility. The case cost $50, which is about what I paid for the 8 fake watches total. But really, it's the sizzle, not the steak.
