CIRCLES

Had a nice lie in this morning. Phone call from the window blind company - they are coming tomorrow to fit the blinds in the bathroom and cloakroom.

Walked down to the village and put a few toys into the collection box at the bank. They are collecting new toys which will be given to disadvantaged children who otherwise would not get any presents at Christmas. Then I did a bit of food shopping and went to the carpet saleroom to pay for the vinyl for my bathroom. It will be fitted next Tuesday - and then everything will be finally finished.

Neil started a new job today. The one he had in North Shields didn't work out and he left after a week. He has been looking for a job for a few weeks and he was glad to get one before Christmas. Its only part- time but that's better than nothing. He came here after work and his first day seems to have gone well.

The weather earlier was cold but dry and bright. However its raining heavily at the moment.

The Forum Challenge word today is Circles. While I was in the village this afternoon I took this shot of one the buildings in Church Chare. There is a complex of buildings which were at one time the Coach House, Stables, Carriage Washery and Stable Yard of a big house. In 1921 it became The Parish Hall for St Mary's Church. Then in In 1923 it was leased as a picture hall. It was also used for other purposes and was said to have been a Roller-skating Ring around 1930. In 1931 it became a full time cinema known as The Regal. I remember going to the cinema every Saturday morning when they showed children's films. It was mayhem. 240 seats filled with screaming excited kids. The Regal closed on 7th November 1965 and became a Bingo Club which it remained until August 1993 when it became a gym. The main building on the right is empty now as the gym closed a year or so ago. The part on the left still operates as a cafe. Famous for its Raspberry Roulade. I think the circular windows just about fit for the challenge.
