At the service commemorating the centenary of the Bombardment of the Hartlepools, the names of the 37 children killed by the shelling were read out, and a balloon was released for each child, just at the moment the sun rose above the horizon.
Then home as the appalling news came through of 100 more children murdered in their school today in Pakistan.
When will anything change?
