U-Bahn München: 48/100 Kreillerstraße

Munich underground: 48/100 Kreillerstraße

As promised in the last rather dull entry for my series, today's station of the Munich underground network is more modern and beautiful. Kreillerstraße underground station was opened in 1999, and therefore is one of the newer stops of the Munich underground. It is the eastern neighbour of the Josephsburg stop (one of the best designed underground stations in my opinion), and shares a lot of design features with it, including the strong red basic colour and the column-less platform. In contrast to Josephsburg, Kreillerstraße underground station is absolutely straight, though.

However, the lighting design is distinctly different and reminds you more of the Fürstenried West underground station (because it was done by the same designers). The curved reflecting ceiling evenly bounces back the light from the three light arrays (of which two are concealed) to the platform, and furthermore accentuates the platform edges.

(Fun fact: turns out that this shot is my first indoor trial with my new regular size tripod, while the blip from Fürstenried West (the one with the same lighting design) had been my first use of my mini-tripod.)
