Surprises!

Blue jays don't like to pose, and they won't come around if they know I am in the area with my camera. At least, that's the way it seems to me. But today this handsome fellow decided to pose, so here he is. Another fabulous surprise today was this pretty little winter wren. I wouldn't have spotted it without the help of my friend Mary who knows a lot more about birds than I do. Running into Mary in the park today was a bit of good luck! She spotted the wren and pointed it out to me.

Weather update: We had a little sunshine today. It wasn't exactly brilliant, but it was the first time we have seen the sun in days, so I was thankful. So were the birds apparently.
