The poor creature is actually tethered to the post at the bottom of the stairs. Beyond him is the room with the buffet in and he is not to be trusted anywhere near it. Last year he ate pretty much a whole rouille cheese straight off the table.

We bought a German dice game called Kniffel from Lidl yesterday. Beck remembered it from exchange trips abroad in the eighties and got quite excited. We played a few rounds after everyone had left today and I fear it might become a feature of this year's festive season. Both of the kids stuck their heads round the door on seperate occasions to see what the parents were getting so worked up about...!
