Ensign Wasp
Identification - Evonia appendigaster - ensign wasp.
This rather unusual and dangerous looking wasp is actually one of the good guys and definitely a bug to be nurtured.
Called the ensign wasp because of the strange arrangement of the petiole and gaster (the technical names for the thin bit and the rear abdomen), which look like an ensign banner.
So, what is so good about this wasp – it lays its eggs on cockroach eggs, that earns a permanent residency in my abode without question.

Is anyone having an adware problem?
I keep getting a 'place your banner' popup at the bottom of the blip page. This is only happening on the blip site, all the rest of my web pages are fine.
Fixed :)
