London Bridge

This evening was our London Night Photography Blipmeet. I met friends, Trevor and Gill, for dinner in a local pub before the meet - a very tasty fish and chip supper and a refreshing shandy to wash it all down! Then it was on to City Hall, adjacent to Tower Bridge, to meet up with the rest of the blippers for our night shoot. We wandered down the Southbank taking shots of the beautiful London skyline. Apart from a brief downpour the weather was kind to us. We retired at the end of the evening to a pub overlooking the Thames for a spot of refreshment before returning home.

My shot is of LondonBridge. The current London Bridge was designed by architect Lord Holford and engineers Mott, Hay and Anderson. It was opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 17th March 1973. The previous London Bridge was sold in 1968 to an American entrepreneur, Robert P McCulloch of McCulloch Oil, for US$2,460,000. It is reputed that he thought he was buying the much more impressive Tower Bridge!

It was good to meet up with old friends/blippers and meet new faces too. Thanks to everyone for making it a great evening. The other blippers on the shoot were:

TKevs (Trevor)
GillKeville (Gill)
AnnieAndChris (Annie and Chris)
JamesSmith (James)
LizMBpics (Liz)
LesleyAlsford (Lesley)

Check out their fab journals too :)
