Gift-wrapped goodies

Morning Job then, after Mr M had packed the car, we set off to Lincolnshire to stay with his dad for a couple of nights. We took him a box full of goodies (that Mr M had wrapped earlier), some heat logs and a couple of bags coal.

Strange gifts, you may think! But, in his eighties, Mr M's dad still seems to be saving for his old age. He laughingly calls himself a 'stoic', but he's actually an expert practitioner of extreme self-deprivation - by choice, I should add, not through need. Hopefully, at Christmas, he'll indulge in some of the little treats that he usually denies himself. Including warmth.

A pleasant evening sitting by his warmer-than-usual fire, sipping Irish whisky.
