Bricks and Mortar

A bright frosty morning soon disintegrated as the cloud and rain moved in. In need of exercise I ventured out for a walk along the old railway line, and then under the still used railway which runs from London Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour. This is one of the bridges along its path. It amazes me how these brick bridges are built and how they stand the wear and tear of the rain and cold. The water seeps through the brickwork in various places on this bridge; damp and lichens can be seen on the inside walls. This road is usually quiet but today it was busy with cars and people visiting a local Christmas tree farm.
