Maid of the water, girl of the foam .....

I had the whole of Saturday morning to myself as Roland had to go back to Norwich to deliver a funeral and then return to Cromer just after lunch. It was bitterly cold but the light was amazing. Bright and sharp. There were several brave souls out surfing and the sea was just incredible. I had never noticed the crunching sound that the waves made against the pebbles. I had never noticed how high some of the waves were. There were lots of things I'd never noticed before.

Some words from the Kalavala kept going round my head:

Maid of the water, girl of the foam
With your embrace calm the waves.

I had fun getting 'off auto' on my Nikon and got some pretty nice shots of breaking waves. I also took some nice shots of beach huts all tucked up for winter. You can see them and photos of the waves on my FB page.

It's been a lovely weekend.
