More Christmas Rituals

Besides the making of the Christmas cake, and the associated laying-on of marzipan and icing, my Christmas Ritual also includes The Making Of The Gingerbreads.

Unless there is a special celebration I make them into tree shapes, a dozen or so large, like these, and eighty-odd smaller. This year I also made four large stars, with the middles cut out, to hang on the tree - I've iced these (rather clumsily, it's a new trick for me). The recipe, from a magazine, is enough to make a gingerbread house but I have never attempted this. Perhaps I should start to experiment for when the Flumlet is old enough to appreciate such a thing...well, that gives me a couple of years.
