Bus Challenge No 45!
OR
Bath Christmas Market No 6!
Another beautiful, frosty Winter's day and into Bath to meet up with a friend. Once again, we missed our connecting bus by seconds, so rather than waiting 20 minutes in the cold, we decided to walk to Weston Village, now a western suburb of Bath.
The parish church was holding a Winter Festival, with a lovely selection of craft stalls (more Christmas shopping!) and a Christmas Tree festival, with an amazing array of interpretations of a 'Christmas Tree', including one made by the local hospital's Dermatology Department from inflated blue rubber gloves!
A second bus took us back into the centre of Bath, where we fought our way through the crowds to the Abbey, for a twenty minute Shopppers' Carol Service. It's always a pleasure to visit this beautiful building, and to admire the amazing architecture whilst singing Christmas carols.
Our third destination for the day was to another area of Bath where we'd seen a mini Christmas Market advertised, along with more carol singing. However, when we arrived there wasn't any sign of any festive activity whatsoever! Undeterred, we returned to the heart of Bath, and browsed a section of the Christmas Market that I'd not explored so far, and then settled down with a Mulled Wine and Mince Pie, to watch the sun go down and the Christmas lights come on.
So for my last visit to the Christmas Market this year (unless I sneak back tomorrow!), I leave you with an evening view of the market, and some ghostly Christmas shoppers!!
Total bus journey time = 1 hr 5 mins
