Feel Good Factor
Bb went to Cafe Cilantro to edit his book this morning and I went to the British Council to make sure everything was ready for our assessor's visit tomorrow. I'd sent her all the docs electronically, but had prepared a folder with a hard copy of everything too and just wanted to pop it all into a folder and drop it off at the Marriott Hotel for her arrival. I couldn't resist a wee look on the hotel terrace. The sound of Christmas carols and this view seduced me into sitting down and enjoying the atmosphere. Bb then joined me. Live jazz music started to play, the sun was shining, the shadows were as long and inviting as the glass of rosé I'd ordered and before we knew it we'd ordered a chicken shawarma to share. Life for too many is too hard in Cairo and we appreciate that and I hope we do just a little on a very small scale to offer a little relief. It's also important that we re-charge our batteries too and we did that this afternoon. I wanted to go to the book fair today in the American University of Cairo this afternoon on the campus on Tahrir Square, but surprisingly it was Bb who said it perhaps would best be avoided - I'm usually more cautious than him!
PS: we had a bit of excitement tonight when Omar Sharif was in our regular Italian restaurant and I got my pic taken with him! He was very good looking and gracious.
Meeting Omar Sharif!
