Bavarian Alps

The view from my ward on the 6th floor taken at 7:53 am. I took the first one at 7:03 when still very dark in Memmingen but quite spectacular pinks and purples on the horizon. Only had my mobile and despite taking 20 odd photos in those 50 minutes, this was the best (and the last) I could get. The others show the colours but are horribly out of focus on the horizon.

I am not good on naming mountains but the ones in view ought to be the Ammergau and Wetterstein chains around Garmisch-Partenkirchen and include Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze (2,962 m - 9,718 ft).

The storm which came down from the UK was quickly blown away back northwards thanks to the Föhnwind coming from Africa and crossing the alps. Always leads to this "clear" air and warm wind. Later in the day was trying to hit 10°C.

Daily Professor visit is at 7:15 when 10 sleepy young doctors trail behind the fresh energetic young boss. The hospital is a training hospital for the major Munich University hospital (LMU).
Young doc: we saw something on the ultrasound.
Prof: but we did a complete clean out.
Young doc: yes, I checked this with the operator.
Prof: do an x-ray

At 8:00 had been x-rayed and sure enough it was a 4mm stone held nicely in place by the sheath. Result: Go home, nothing can happen and make an appointment to come back for another operation.

So now home and have to find a good slot for another 3 day/2 night sojourn. Perhaps 23-25th December? I don't like Christmas anyway and can't remember having a merry one in the last 20 odd years. Would be different with children about.

Luckily no pain or problems with the stone but a real pain in the proverbial. So to cheer myself up will enter this in the Lovers of Light knowing the quality is worse than a poor Polaroid.
