Sleigh bells ring. Are you listening?
It's been a strange sort of day. After taking Miniman to school I took mum to the hospital to the breast cancer care unit for her yearly check. It's been a while since I actually went in with her so it took me a bit by surprise how I suddenly felt a wave of anxiousness.
When Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer we were already aware that Dad was in the later stages of lung cancer and there would be no way back for him. I remember all three of us sitting in the car on the way home after being told what the options were and Mum being totally sure of what she was going to do. I'm pretty sure me & Dad were more in shock than she seemed to be.
She then planned a holiday for the two of them to a fishing cabin with a hot tub next to the lake before the surgery. She is a woman of such strength & determination when she's looking after her family. I'm so lucky to have her. I try not to take any of her for granted. I only hope I can be half the woman she is. A force of nature not to be messed with.
The photo is the updated room with fibre optic tree we bought for Miniman on the way back from the hospital. Life's too short! (And yes Miniman is asleep in the background)
