Hong Kong Park

Day 2/3 Rest, recuperation, restore and reflect

Today I started with a leisurely breakfast after a prolonged rest. I then returned to my room and sent, over sixty Christmas cards through an app called Touchnote. The quality is very good and I have used one of my own pictures on the card. I always leave card sending too late so felt very virtuous after that. THe chosen card pic will be my Christmas Day blip on here as a card to my blip friends!

I had decided not to go out early and get tired so it was after a light lunch I went off to Hong Kong Park. This is a small park by any standards but in the midst of busy Central it is an oasis of calm. I have been here before and wanted to revisit the Museum of Tea, which I did. I took some blips, one of which is my blip for today. BEST VIEWED LARGE, some good reflections I think! I have also uploaded some onto Flickr as an experiment. The link is here! will someone let me know if it works as I will use this in the future.

Returning to the hotel, I then went out to meet another professor from CityU with his family for a Vietnamese meal. It was lovely and I haven't been to this restaurant for a few years so was so pleased to return, it is called Rice Paper.

I have added 'reflect' to my description at the top. I just wanted to say how well I though the HK youth and students conducted themselves yesterday at the end of 75 days of Occupy Central. The previous evening over 10000 had gathered and in the morning over a thousand remained. Without incident they packed up their tents, collected their memories and some left with the police and others dispersed. Their model Umbrella Protest has changed the relationship between young people and their elders here in HK and whatever happens next they have found a voice and I hope they will keep it.

Last day tomorrow and fly tomorrow evening.
