Not every day

Across time and space

A long working day finished with a Skype conference with colleagues in New South Wales. It began at 9.30 and finished at 11.45, on Thursday evening. For them it started at 8.30 on Friday morning. My winter night was their summer morning. The meeting was intensely engaging, getting into the nitty gritty of planning a big new research project. Occasionally for a break I switched the view so that the Skype window was small and at the top of the screen, which helped to make sure I was looking them in the eye. This also enabled me to see my background picture of Seven Mile Beach in Northern Rivers, a few miles from where they were meeting, where I got badly but happily sunburned back in April. Separated by 11,000 miles and 11 hours, for much of the time it really felt as though we were in the same room. The colleagues dialling in from Sydney had worse sound than I did, and no vision.

Blipfoto invites me to 'choose a location'. Which?
