The official Calmac lookout
This gull was keeping an eye of the ferries and on me. He would not be intimidated into flying off the wall, too busy forecasting what was take place in the next few hours.
The 12.00 ferry may run, will let you know at 10.00.
OK no ferry at 12.00 but a a fair chance the 2.00 will sail, will let you know at 12.00
He was right, we sailed at 2.00, a bumpy crossing although nothing we haven't seen before but the pilot had quite a job pulling the ship on the berth at Craignure. As we arrived a squall hit the area and he held the ship away from the port until it passed. Wallowing we were.
He then spun the ferry round as if taking a panoramic shot and slowly pulled the ship on the side of the pier. The whole manoeuvre taking nearly 30 minutes, This was followed by a delay in disembarking, John could see there was a problem lowering the ramp, we have no idea but didn't care so long as we didn't have to go back to Oban. (No offence intended Oban). Well done to the whole team.
Another hail storm hit as we walked out from the car deck, it was a cowering walk until I looked up to see John standing there grinning. Hooray!
