Reindeer

Today we were supposed to be meeting friends for a walk and a pub lunch but it was cancelled due to illness (theirs, not ours). In some ways I wasn't too unhappy; it saved a few calories on what is turning out to be an indulgent week, and given how cold and windy it was today I'm not sure I was looking forward to a tramp round several miles of Hertfordshire countryside. It also meant I could get round to writing my Christmas cards at last, so I am now happily up to date.

We nipped over to the local garden centre which has a very good butchers that stocks game from the Woburn Estate, as W is planning on making a raised game pie. Outside was this rather large reindeer that reminded me more of one of the 'Four Reindeer of the Apocalypse' rather than one of Santa's cute helpers. I do hope I've been nice rather than naughty if he's going to be using a few of those to haul his sleigh this Christmas.
