Edinburgh Xmas

It would not seem like Christmas without the obligatory glass of gluhwein and some shots of the Xmas Market and Big Wheel on Princes Street. I'm not sure I particularly like the wheel being parallel to Princes Street now but at least it does separate out the key elements of the scene - the Big Wheel, The Scott Monument and the Balmoral Hotel. As I was shooting handheld resting on a stone pillar, I was not able to experiment with the effects of different long exposures on the Big Wheel though I did try only to end up with a load of fuzzy exposures. This was a bout thew only exposures that worked 400 ISO with the lens wide open and under-exposing by about a stop. bringing the blue back into the sky in post-processing lead to the inevitable grainy image though I've countered this partly by using a noise reduction filter.
