Rest in Peace Connor Ross

Hartbeespoort and R snr's school are in mourning today! Connor passed away at 07:00 this morning! Such a lovely little boy, our deepest condolences to his parents and loved ones! God knows how they are going to come to terms with this!!

Connor was in R's class, Grade 7 and almost 12 years of age. He never attended class this year, he only came in once, to meet his new teacher and to get his books. He was diagnosed with cancer roundabout August of 2009, and needed a bone marrow transplant urgently! He was in hospital almost the whole time since January.

The school as well as the community did whatever they could to raise funds for his treatment. One of the ladies on the staff swam the 'Midmar-mile' and another one took part in the Argus Cycling tour this past weekend, to raise funds.

His parents could not afford the treatment because they are not members of a Medical Aid fund, due to another tragedy they experienced a year ago. The father was in a tragic motor car accident and was in hospital for a long time, which resulted in him losing his job with all the fringe benefits attached!

Connor was very upset by the fact that he almost lost his father, and when he started complaining about aches and pains and tiredness, they thought it was depression because of what happened to the dad. They took him to a doctor where he was given antibiotics.

A few months later, in July last year, when my cousin Christo was shot and killed by robbers, those same robbers attacked Connor's family two days later, in their home.

His father was dragged outside, he fought back, and the thug who was battling with him, shot and killed his own robber friend, who was still inside with Connor, his mom and his 4year old sister. It turned out that the killed robber was the one who killed our Christo.

About a month after this robbery incident, Connor was daignosed with Leukemia! Read more about all the unfortunate incidents here!

Everybody in Hartbeespoort really hoped and prayed for his recovery!! It is a terribly painful day for everybody in our relatively small town!

Please pray for his dear bereaved parents and the rest of the family! They are só exhausted, the past year was almost unbearable!
