Doesn't look right

It has felt bitterly cold, windy and wet today. There was also snow and thunder and lightning.
I carry my compact in a waterproof inside pocket in my paramo jacket wrapped in a plastic ziploc food bag. It's an arrangement that has worked well to exclude dust and moisture from the device; so far. There was a brief lull in the storm on site up past Kingussie today and I thought I would grab a blip while I can but the camera wouldn't fire.

Any suggestions what the problem may be?

I have brutally dried it out with heat and it seems to be working again but having posted this image I doubt it will fetch much on ebay if I ever wanted to part with it.

I am really looking forward to a dry desk day tomorrow.
