Fire

We are not sure why they do it but the farmers here set fire to the wildness and burn off all the dead grass and try to keep ahead of the ever spreading gorse. With all this dry weather most of the hill tops around are now burnt and charred.

I woke this morning in a heavy cloud of smoke and the local fire brigade at the door - the wildfire had come quite close, there was no danger to the house and it was brilliant to photograph. Even this small fire generated a huge amount of heat, cannot imagine how awful it must be to be threatened by a serious wild fire.
