Reindeer games
Raspberry the Red Nosed Reindeer
You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,
you know Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen,
But do you recall?
The most famous reindeer of all?
Raspberry the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Has a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows.
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call her names
They never let poor Raspberry
Join in any reindeer games
Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
Santa came to say,
Raspberry with your nose so bright,
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?
Then all the reindeer loved her,
As they shouted out with glee,
Raspberry the red-nose Reindeer
You'll go down in history!
"Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer" is a song written by Johnny Marks based on the 1939 story Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer published by the Montgomery Ward Company.
Here's the song from my childhood. I actually saw Gene Autry once at a Rodeo at the Boston Garden in 1957 when I was 8. I went with my friend from up the street, Donal Smith and his parents.
The song was also performed on the December 6, 1949, Fibber McGee and Molly radio broadcast by Teeny (Marion Jordan's little girl character) and The Kingsmen vocal group. The lyrics varied greatly from the Autry version. I used to listen to that radio program with Nora & Gordon when I got a little older. I can still remember the voices of the radio performers.
Raspberry amazes me, she is so curious and willing. The whole photoshoot took about 8 minutes, 145 snaps( about 8 keepers) and a cat rewarded with cheese.
For the Record,
This day came in warm and dismal with off and on rain.
All hands improving
Rudolph's distant cousin
