Cockles.

A good haul of cockles collected from our local beach. The cocklers drive their vehicles onto the beach at low tide and work hard raking up and sieving the cockles. At this time of year it must be a very cold, wet job. The cockles are then sold on to a processing depot to be cleansed before being retailed. Cockles and laverbread is regarded as a great local delicacy.
