No Glitz, No Music
Towering hotels and casinos
stand adjacent to the grand piers
near music halls, wharfs and parks
But you, little pier, stand alone.
A torn lottery scratch card
blows across the lake.
Two cherries, an orange and a plum.
is as close as you get.
Spinning sparkles behind railings
Little pier reconciles without reason
With a cheerless fate
Resting place for tired crows.
