Bring Your Pliers

A Cholla is a very cuddly-looking plant, but don't try to caress it. The spines have barbs! You may need pliers to remove the spines

This specimen is enjoying the early morning light, pre-sunrise.

I think that it is a Silver Cholla because of the silvery spines. I spent a lot of time and had to take a second walk to try to identify this plant. It could be a jumping cholla and it definitely is not a Teddy Bear Cholla. Actually I spent more time with the ID than with the photo.
