Starlings at sunrise

There is an old oak tree in the field beyond our garden that is used as a roost for large flocks of starlings at dawn, as though to plan where to forage that day, and at dusk, to join other flocks to form "murmurations" over the reed beds down on the moors where they sleep overnight.

This morning the tree was silhouetted against a gorgeous sunrise!
