ATTENTION! ATTENTION! Would all passengers please

Another clear morning but nowhere near as frosty as yesterday. I took a stroll above the Eastern docks at sunrise. The sound of the passenger announcements was incredibly loud despite my high vantage point.

looking at my calendar today ... a whole day of building charts and slides for our quarterly summary... Joy... still I have the sunrise today and when I start to nod off later this afternoon due to boredom perhaps I will snapped back to work with the clarion tones of ATTENTION!

Dover is the busiest passenger port in the world. I, like many local teenagers seeking money for university worked long hours as a steward on the boats. Eventually they trained me as a "silver service" waiter for the "high end" restaurant. Now imagine trying to play the spoons whilst balancing various plates in a force 9 gail and you will have an approximation of one of my most memorable nights in service on the boats :-)
