Take your shoes off

It´s a custom to take your shoes off when you enter a house in Iceland. Even when you enter a sports hall you have to take off your shoes. And when you go into hospitals or a surgery you have to take off the shoes or wear blue plastic shoes.

When I lived in England I kicked off my shoes where ever I went at first but soon realized I was the only one who did it. The sports halls in London were sometimes so dirty we had to sweep and clean the floor before we could start playing badminton.
