Embarrassed

After a day in the office I had the pleasure of attending an event this evening in Dalkeith. The Midlothian grouping of panel members came together to mark the milestone of 5 years membership of the national panel for three members.

It was a very enjoyable relaxed event combined with a pre-Christmas social event organised by the social committee. Sandwiches and refreshment were provided by Midlothian Council who continue to be very supportive of the hearings system and panel members. Councillor Jim Bryant (perched on the chair in the background) welcomed us all and we discovered that many years ago he worked for my late father in the bank and had even been to our then family home. Small world.

The event was combined with fundraising for the Kilbrandon fund to support vulnerable families and a healthy amount was raised. I bought a few tickets/ items and was acutely embarrassed to win the large (3litre) bottle of wine in the foreground beside Pat and Julia. My efforts to put it back in for another draw were rebuffed. Not sure how long I'd have wait before being safe to drive with the new drink drive limits - if I survived!
