winter sun and port

This morning was damp and cold with quite a wind blowing. Took Nelly and Sid for a walk just before lunch and today we decided to take the hip flask and 2 little silver cups. We stopped for a 10 minute break on one of our favourite stopping places and had a little drink of warming port. The sun was very bright and low in the sky. It was so nice to just sit for a few minutes and enjoy the cool winter morning, the birds flying overhead, the frosty leaves gently thawing, and Nelly and Sid sitting on lookout duty hoping to see a rabbit or a squirrel.
