The orange sky in the late afternoon near the South Ayrshire town of Troon was lovely as the sun disappeared below the bank of dark clouds on the horizon. The Firth of Clyde is just discernible and no more. If the forecast is right the sea will be a boiling cauldron by Wednesday as a giant storm is heading this way high above the Atlantic.
