St James Concert Hall
I've been meaning to blip St James for a while and today I really liked the quad biker who photobombed my pic.
One way or another St James has played quite a role in my life. When I was about 5 I asked if I could go to Sunday School. Mum and dad had one of these conversations that the kids aren't supposed to be listening to but I was. They decided that if that was what I wanted, that was what I should have and they decided to take me to the Town Church the following Sunday. But as we were walking to the Town Church we passed St James and it was Sunday School time so they decided on that instead. I did enjoy Sunday School but I always felt a little cheated because the church was dedicated to St James the Less and I thought that sounded less important and somehow just not the top drawer church. All went really well until they took their summer break. I simply never went back.
Years later the hall behind the church held socials every Saturday evening and that was where most of my teenage trysts took place. The hall now houses the Millennium Tapestry which is a Guernsey version of the Bayeux Tapestry, created for the new millennium. Each parish produced a panel and I duly put one stitch in the Torteval panel.
For anyone interested you can read about the history of the church here.
