MONO MONDAY: Home. Our House

A house is not a Home, a Home is where your heart is and it is part of you. Marie and I moved from Invercargill 11 years ago and the first HOUSE we bought was not our home. Road noise all day and most of the night and Maries favourite was the Bastard neighbours on both sides of us. Three months later we put it on the market and it sold within the hour. When we were looking for a new HOME we went around to a lot of Open Dumps some only fit for a Bulldozer and Real Estate agents full of themselves because they did not have to do any work at that time when the market was booming. We were waiting for a Private Sale Open Home,when we pulled up opposite, Marie fell in love straight away because it had Lead light Windows. What a beauty 2 good sized bedrooms large lounge separate Modern Kitchen,Separate Dinning Room, an Office, nice closed in porch Sun all day and a Tandem Garage and Sleep out, The Bathroom was, is Small 7ft x 6ft but we loved it. When it come to signing up the Husband and Wife had 2 different figures in there head and of course when I was told the price I said sign me up and like all good husbands he had to check with his wife and the price was a bit more than we could afford. I thanked them very much and told them they had a wonderful home not house. We had not even arrived in the door to our house and the phone was ringing, the Vendors were on the phone and said they could see us in their home, it was us and if the bank would lend us now a reduced figure it would be ours. A registered Valuation gave us what is now our Home. Since living here we have put in New Carpet, a New Roof and pulled down the Old garage and replaced it with a Double Garage with a Brick veneer, the Garage is 7m x 7m with 2 Sleep Outs as part of the Building 5 m x 3 1/2m one of which is a store room a total foor area of 86m2. We put in a new bathroom and had to move a wall so we could fit a bath. Our Home is Brick with double Brick internal walls. When we replaced the bathroom when I was taking out the old plumbing I put my foot through the floor and we ended up having to replace the floors through out the whole house, amazing what is hidden by floor coverings. We had it professionally Painted on the exterior and what a ballsup, the painters had to come back 6 times in 3 Years to fix their cockups hence this painting company never got good advertising from us. In 4 days we have been in our HOME for 11 years and even if we win Lotto we won't move. We live on a corner 1/4 Acre Section with a Pittasporum Hedge on Three boundaries and a Tin fence on the west Boundary.Our House The lawns are starting to dry up as we have not had a lot of rain or enough rain to water anything for some months now and we are under water restrictions in the Timaru District.
