Mt St Helen

I was at a friends house for a Christmas Party this afternoon....she has a view of four mt peaks from her deck....when the sun was shining on Mt St Helen I went outside to get a shot. It looked much better than the photo....but I decided to blip this shot anyway.
Mt St Helen erupted about 20 years ago and sent ash high into the sky that traveled a great distance to Portland, Oregon where we live. Everything was covered with a layer of ash! Anything on the mountain was devastated, even the people who refused to leave their homes. A lake was completely covered and trees were instantly burned by the heat. It was an amazing site for many weeks as the ash clouds would be blown high in the sky. It is still active, but people are allowed on it again and there does not seem like there is any danger of another large eruption. The visitors information center shows the before and after .....as the mountain started to come back to life. Very interesting if you you get to Washington, USA.

We leave on vacation early tomorrow morning so no time for comments tonight. 5AM will come very early for me!!!
