The Kirkby Lonsdale.... One!

I have mentioned on here before the fact that there are eight pubs and bars in Kirkby Lonsdale and also the fact that I have never visited them all in one evening, an ambition that I refer to as "doing the Kirkby Lonsdale 8".

This evening, though, we seemed all set. The Minx and Dean were (apparently) up for it, so we popped on our drinking trousers (and dress) and started out at The Royal. All was going well as we found a table and started our first drink.

In retrospect, it was as I was close to finishing my first pint and looked at my companions' beverages that it occurred to me that the evening might not go according to plan. Theirs, it must be said, was a leisurely pace. I suggested that we should be getting a move on and there were mumblings about the fact that we had a table and were quite comfortable.

And so, disappointingly, this attempt at the KL8 was the least successful to date, managing as it did just the one pub. That said, we did have a lovely evening, with more drinks, good food and - from my perspective at least - delightful company. You can see some evidence of our high spirits in today's photo :-)
