Ignition 2

December Challenge Day 7: Light - fire or flame

The wintry weather is definitely here in Orkney - a day of bitingly cold winds and hard driven rain, hail and sleet.
Thankfully my beautiful fiancée and I managed to get out for the afternoon wander with the dogs without being rained on. Wrapped up in waterproofs, we returned to the car a bit too warm, but it was better than being freezing cold and soaked to the skin.
When I saw the challenge for today I pretty much knew what I was going to attempt. I tried this shot a while ago and today tried to better it. I waited til it was dark and clamped my blowtorch in the workbench in the garage. I turned the gas down low enough that it would ignite, but then go out immediately. I opened the shutter on the camera, fired the torch and then shut the shutter. About 50 times. I liked the almost hard lines of the blue flame fronts in this shot and the fine red line curling through the blue at the top. Practically any of the other shots would have worked. It is damned cold in the garage! View this one large...
