It was a dark and stormy night ...
This is a very small section of the audience 8+1 sang for tonight in Benmore Gallery. The rest are behind me as I take this, eating an extensive buffet supper at the long tables where most of them sat to hear us sing. Others sat down here, seemingly content to watch our backs as we sang above them, happy that they could still hear every word.
Everyone present had come out in torrential rain and mounting winds, driving out the semi-flooded A815 from Dunoon, crashing along over the ruts and puddles of the track from the car park round Benmore Gardens to the Gallery, peering through the driving rain in the pitch dark of the countryside. The organisers had outsold, and even then people had been turned away. It was a dark and stormy night all right, but I don't think anyone cared.
