Well, well...
I took my newly dismantled FD f1.8 (see here for details) out for an inaugural freelensing walk in the frosty sun today. I paired it up with my old 20D to keep things light-weight and figured I'd just wing it and see how I got on.
Not bad, not bad at all :) The keep-rate is low, but then the focal plane is so narrow that even with the steadiest hand holding and careful breathing you can see the focus jump meters at a time. But when it works, it works surprisingly well.
The lens is old and the coatings are noticeably deteriorated, so some contrast and colour retrieval is required in Lightroom. However, all the blurring, flaring and artifacts are unique to each frame (and my shaky technique ;)
